Marcel was a professional. His gloves looked as if a fish had swallowed his hand, as the fabric was soaked with water from the incessant rain. His hat dripped, and the feather on the back fell off, letting freezing water run down his back and neck. But Marcel didn't move, because he was lurking. His target was a young nobleman who had insulted the queen's maid. Marcel struck with viper-like speed as the young noble staggered drunkenly out of the tavern. When the alarm spread, he had already disappeared for some time.
Epic Armory's Rillet Rapier is part of the Vanguard line, taking inspiration from Renaissance rapiers. Where most rapiers featured a thin blade, this one is designed like the rapiers traditionally used for battle and warfare rather than the ornamental blades of the courts of Europe. The weapon's guard is designed to protect both the top of the hand (like a regular cross guard) and the fingers as a basket guard normally would. The grip is grooved to improve the handler's grip, while the shape (or rain guard) is inserted inside the crossguard, with incisions that look like vines. Likewise, the pommel features matching engravings around the globe to match the chappe. The blade is made of closed cell polyurethane foam and colored to look as realistic as possible. Unlike most LARP weapons, the Vanguard line requires virtually no maintenance, beyond controlling wear and tear in the form of nicks or breaks.
